My donation to The Firehouse Quilts of Colorado

Last month our Enrichment night activity was to make and donate quilts to the Firehouse Quilts of Colorado. I brought my sewing machine, I was ready to work, and really excited about the activity. I chose some fabric from the table of donated fabric and started cutting, and sewing blocks. Yes, it's a simple quilt but it's the best I could do on the spot. Usually I like to have a pattern when I make a quilt but this little quilt was a quick decision. This wasn't a project I was planning, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to make this quilt to donate. It makes me proud to contribute to our ward's donation.

As I was working this quilt, I realized how much I have to learn. I have made a few other quilt tops but this was the first time I made the quilt top, and quilted the back and batting together. Let me tell you, it was a challenge. I had no idea how to do any kind of design so I just started sewing and hoped for the best. Unfortunately, the quilting doesn't look as cute, or as good as I'd like....ok it's atrocious. But I did my very best and It's finished in time for our ward's BBQ and quilt show coming up at the end of the month.

I think you did a great job. Its way better than what I could do-I've never sewn a quilt, but would like to try one day.
